A Great Place for Reunions
Parc de Lignieres is a traditional 17th century Maison de Maitre situated in the middle of an ancient village, Trausse de Minervois, in the Languedoc region. It is a great place for reunions with family and friends. To the front of the house is a private courtyard, surrounded by the walls of the house and barns. The courtyard is very private and can be a sun trap. All the shuttered doors to the house open onto the courtyard, and you can enjoy breakfast on the lawn. Lime and Chestnut trees provide shelter from the summer sun, and are often nested in during the Spring.
Parc de Ligniere's unusual feature is that it has a large walled garden, like a secret park, beyond the gates of the courtyard. On one side of the garden there is a small orchard with plenty of play space and trees to climb. You will find fig, cherry, plum, pear and apple trees here. The garden area measures 2069 square meters. The 10th century Tour de Trencaval, named after the Trencaval family who ruled this region from Carcassonne, can be seen from the pool. The village is surrounded by vineyards, and is only a few minutes walk from the foothills of the Montaigne Noire.
The house sleeps twelve and there is plenty of room for a party in the garden. We have had surprise parties, village parties and 70th birthday parties so far! Trausse Minervois is only 25 minutes from Carcassonne Airport and 1 1/2 hours from the well served Toulouse airport and the Spanish border. This is a beautiful part of France to drive to, and many people simply allow more time and drive down from one of the ports in France or Spain.
